Why the Saints have been quiet in free agency

After a crazy two weeks of getting under the cap, there hasn’t been much in free agency for the Saints. Compared to other teams the Saints haven’t even made a splash in free agency.

While other teams focus on the market, the Saints are focused on retaining the players they have now. Retaining and extending players like Marshon Lattimore, Ryan Ramczyk, and Marcus Williams are the priority for the Saints, along with the critical behind the scenes pieces to the team like Craig Robertson.

With the salary cap being at $400k for the Saints, it would be hard for them to sign anybody, but if there was a player they wanted the front office would find a way to get them in New Orleans (let alone meet with them).

That cap number could easily go up however with some extensions of Lattimore, Marcus Williams, and Ramczyk.

It’s obvious the Saints have holes at corner, linebacker, and receiver, but all three of these will likely be addressed within the draft unless there is a player they like a lot or want to reunite with (Kwon Alexander, Willie Snead etc.).
