Could the Saints be front runners for Russell Wilson?

It was announced Russell Wilson and his camp determined 4 teams for a trade, the Saints, Raiders, Bears, and Cowboys.

The Seahawks have tried to make it clear they don’t want to trade the star quarterback, but Wilson stormed out of a meeting prior to their Thursday Night Game against Arizona took place in which his ideas about how to improve the team were dismissed.

Now, Wilson is looking to be traded to the Bears, Raiders, Saints, and Cowboys. Without being biased the Saints could possibly be the front runners in the race to get Wilson and here’s why.

The Cowboys are high on keeping quarterback Dak Prescott. They have talked about extending him to a big contract or possibly franchise tagging him one again. This would eliminate Dallas from the Russell Wilson race.

Despite the rumors that Derek Carr would be traded this offseason, the Raiders and Derek Carr have been rumored to being close to an extension. If they extended Carr it wouldn’t make sense for the Raiders to trade for Wilson.

That leaves the Bears and the Saints. The Bears are in desperate need of a quarterback and Russell Wilson is someone they will push very hard to get. The Bears have an advantage over the Saints in a way. The main reason is a higher draft pick, but that’s it. The Saints are an overall better team with better coaches, players, and skill.

For Russell Wilson, would it make more sense to request a trade to the 8-8 Bears, or make a Super Bowl run with the 12-4 Saints? Every player does whatever it takes for a Super Bowl, well if Wilson wants another ring, the Saints would probably be a near perfect fit.

So what exactly would a trade for Russell Wilson possibly look like? If I had to guess here’s what a possibility could be.

2021 1st round pick, 2022 1st round pick, 2023 1st round pick at the minimum.

Some players that could be additionally involved in the trade could be Ryan Ramczyk, Terron Armstead, Erik Mccoy, or Taysom Hill.

I’m just guessing what I believe could happen, I’m uncertain who and whose not available for trade on the Saints.

First though we need to hear what Drew’s announcement is. If he retires then Sean could possibly pull the trigger. First though Wilson needs to request/demand a trade. Only time will tell. Just have to take it one day at a time.
