The Saints continue to clear a path in cap space with every move they make, especially within the next week. 

Entering the offseason the Saints found themselves over $100 million in cap space. Here’s every transaction the Saints made to get under the cap.

*Update: the Saints are officially under the cap. The cap number isn’t known yet because the details to Terron Armstead’s contract restructure have yet to be released.

Restructure of Drew Brees: saves $24 million.

Releasing of Nick Easton: saves $5.87 million.

Restructure of David Onyemata: saves $4.3 million.

Releasing of Josh Hill: saves about $2.5 million.

Releasing of Jared Cook: saves us $9 million due to a duster bonus we don’t have to pay him now.

Restructure of Wil Lutz contract: saves $1.74 million.

Releasing of Thomas Morestead: saves $2.5 million.

Restructure of Demario Davis and Cam Jordan contracts: saves $13.4 million.

Restructure of Malcom Jenkins: saves $3.4 million.

Restructure of Andrus Peat: saves $6 million

Releasing of Kwon Alexander: saves $13 million.

Releasing of Emmanuel Sanders: saves $4 million.

Releasing of Janoris Jenkins: saves $7 million.

Restructure of Michael Thomas: saves $8.7 million.

Trading of Malcom Brown: saves $5 million.

Restructure of Taysom Hill: saves $7.5 million.

Restructure of Terron Armstead: unknown yet (will put Saints under the cap).

Some transactions that have brought that number down include:

Resigning of J.T. Gray: around a $2 million cap hit

Franchise tagging Marcus Williams: $10.5 million cap hit

Resigning Noah Spence: $800K cap hit

Resigning Ty Montgomery: 990K cap hit

Resigning of Dwayne Washington: $1.13 million cap hit.

Resigning of Jameis Winston: $2.5 million cap hit.

Resigning of James Hurst: $3 million cap hit.

Mickey Loomis has just started the process and saved $50 million. Expect lots of news the next two weeks.
