Saints vs Eagles Pregame Guide

How/where to watch

The 5-4 Saints travel to Philadelphia to take on the 4-6 Eagles in a critical playoff implication placement. They most definitely must win a game if the Saints want to make the playoffs. Kickoff is at 10:00 AM PST, 12:00 PM CT, 1:00 PM EST. Here is a map of who gets the game locally on Fox, Saints and Eagles in blue.

If you don’t get the game or can’t watch it for some reason, links to live streams of the game will be sent to my Saints groups chat. Link is here to join: https://relevnt.app/vibe/44763

Injury report

Players to watch

Marcus Davenport & Cam Jordan, can they keep Jalen Hurts contained and in the pocket.

Kwon Alexander, he’s gonna have a critical role to keep Hurts contained.

Brett Maher, can he be a reliable kicker for the Saints.

Tre’Quan Smith, he’s been solid the past two weeks in the offense, can he continue to be available and make some plays.

Tony Jones, how often does he play coming off his foot injury from week four.

Things to keep an eye on

Can the receivers get open vs man coverage.

Do the linebackers stop the run fast and early?

Do the Saints continue to hurt themselves with mistakes?

How often does Taysom Hill go in, he’s been dealing with injuries recently and it’ll be interesting to see how he’s played this week.

Keys to the game

Stop the run, the Eagles have one of the most dominant rushing attacks in the NFL and have been on a hot streak the past few weeks in having success running the football consistently well. It will be up to the Saints from seven to shut it down fast and early, it won’t be easy either as they will be without Tanoh Kpassagnon and Malcolm Roach to provide depth in that run stuffing defensive line. I would hope that Pete Werner gets a lot of snaps this week as he provides reliability in the run game because of how smart of a player he is. To go along with that, Jalen Hurts has to be contained and that’s where Kwon Alexander comes in. Hopefully the Saints run a 4-3 defense with Kwon, Werner, and Davis. Kwon will be a key part of the game plan to keep Hurts contained and not scramble.

Start fast, the slow start for the Saints offense the past two games have been awful and ended up being crucial at the end. They have to find ways to start fast and not get so far behind, because if the Saints are losing in the fourth quarter, the Eagles style of offense will just eat away at the defense. A fast start is what is needed for the Saints offense and just some momentum to get the game started. If the Saints can manage to put up some points early on, maybe we don’t have to see a fourth quarter “comeback”.

Force turnovers, the Saints defense has been doing their job all season long and they need to continue to do so this week. With a lot of starters out on the offense, the defense has to set them up in a good position to score and the offense has to take advantage of those opportunities.
