Alvin Kamara ruled out, other news from Friday

The bad news continues to pile for the Saints as injuries continue to cause adversity. With this bad news though comes some good news, as we could potentially see some familiar faces return and some possibly new faces play their first NFL game.

Sean Payton assessed some problems on the team that have been costly recently and now once again in a critical game vs the Eagles, those costly mistakes are critical to not make.

Injury report

Transactions

The Saints waived kicker Brian Johnson. After missing two critical extra points Sunday vs the Titans and one vs the Buccaneers. He went 8/8 on field goals while making a 52 yard kick, and went 5/8 on extra points.

With this move the Saints elevated kicker Brett Maher from the practice squad to the active roster. He was the original kicker the Saints went to after Lutz got his surgery, but an injury got him released.

To go along with Maher, defensive tackle Montavius Adams was elevated to the practice squad after being waived earlier this week.

Expected moves/replacements

First I would think Ty Montgomery gets placed on injured reserve putting him out for three weeks minimum. To fill in for him either Easop Winston or Kawaan Baker will be elevated from the practice squad.

Tony Jones Jr. who practiced this week, could be activated off of injured reserve and designated to play Sunday. He’s dealt with a foot injury since injuring it week four against the Giants.

The guys who will fill in for Terron Armstead and Ryan Ramczyk will be Landon Young and James Hurst, with Young primarily on the left and Hurst on the right.
