Keys to the game

  • Make Trevor Siemian comfortable, this is Siemian’s first start since 2017. Sean needs to have a gameplan set to make Siemian comfortable and poised. With a backfield duo of Ingram and Kamara Sean needs to utilize them in the running game. By doing this, Siemian can be a game manager and control the clock. Quick short to intermediate passes will set up Siemian and the offense for success and a win.
  • Keep Cordarrelle Patterson contained, the Falcons best offensive weapon is Patterson, while Pitts is good, Patterson has had the best production on a week to week basis. We could possibly see a more usage of Kwon Alexander if they want to line him up on Patterson, we could also possibly see Chauncey on Patterson on some plays given he was a wide receiver at some point and is a flex player. The Saints can’t allow Patterson to get going and take away Ryan’s security blanket option.
  • Allow the defense to win the game, the Saints offense has to take time off the clock and let the defense win the game. The defense will win this game and force turnovers and get off the field. It’s up to the offense to take time off the clock, manage the game and put up points.

Players to watch

  • Trevor Siemian, how comfortable does he look in his first start since 2017
  • Mark Ingram, does he play more now that he’s had a week of practice
  • Taysom Hill, how often is he in and how does Sean Payton use him

Things to keep an eye on

  • Sean Payton’s usage of the backfield and the run game
  • Does the defensive line get pressure on Matt Ryan
  • Can the receivers have another consistent and decent game like last week
  • How does the special teams unit perform without two of their guys
  • Does Brian Johnson continue to be consistent
  • How does Dennis Allen go about covering Kyle Pitts
  • Do the play calls stay aggressive with shots downfield or does Sean Payton dial it back a bit
