Saints Training Camp Day 9 Notes

Attendance: 

  • No Tre’Quan Smith (wrist), P.J. Williams, Chris Hogan, Ethan Wolf (ankle), or Ryan Glasgow (retired) 
  • Nick Vannett returned after having the flu

Updates:

  • Ryan Glasgow was placed on the reserve/retired list and intends to get his masters 
  • Josh Pederson the newly signed tight end is wearing 85

Notes:

  • Both quarterbacks had a mixed day of good and bad 
  • Prince Amukamara got reps at outside corner and special teams, looks good in run support and is jamming people in special team 
  • Defensive line had a good solid day
  • Cesar Ruiz continues to have a solid camp
  • Defense dominated red zone drills and offense look bad
  • The overall defense had a great day 
  • Carl Granderson looked impressive 

Observations:

  • One of the more physical practices with more contact than usual 
  • Payton Turner looks to be getting more comfortable in the run game
  • Adonis Alexander has two picks in the past two days 

Plays:

  • Payton Turner was moving well laterally and kept Kamara was hitting the edge and breaking loose 
  • Ian Book scrambled for two potential rushing touchdowns from the ten yard line 
  • Taysom Hill threw a beautiful pass to Marquez Callaway into the end zone 
  • Winston had a good pass to Freeman 
  • Adonis Alexander picked off Winston in the end zone (intended for Lil’Jordan Humphrey, under thrown)
  • Trevor Siemian under threw a slant to Kawaan Baker and Ceedy Duce got a pick 
  • Taysom Hill had a pass batted down by Jalen Dalton
  • Onyemata had a sack on Hill
  • Adonis Alexander also had a nice pass break up 
  • Malcom Jenkins had a pas break up on Winston 
  • Jameis threw a nice touchdown to Baker during red zone drills
  • Siemian threw a touchdown to Easop Winston during red zone drills 
  • Chase Hansen cracked Stevie Scott on a blitz and had the crowd cheering

One on ones:

  • Lil’Jordan Humphrey had two one handed catches during one on ones
  • Ken Crawley’s undefeated record in one on ones came to an end, he went 0/3 today
  • Jake Lampman and Deonte Harris had two nice touchdowns
  • Easop Winston put Adonis Alexander on skates on a great route with a touchdown
