Saints workout another veteran cornerback

The Saints are looking at their options at cornerback, yesterday they held a visit with Prince Amukamara and today they are working out veteran corner KeiVarae Russell.

Russell entered the league in 2016 after being selected with the 74th pick of the draft by the Chiefs. He was then released and signed with the Bengals and played in Cincinnati until 2018. He spent the 2019 season on the Chargers practice squad and part of 2020 season on the Giants practice squad but was later picked up by the Packers.

In the four seasons he’s played he totaled 22 tackles, 2 pass deflections, and 1 interception.

The Saints could be interested in developing him into an outside corner, possibly a safety. They could also want to use him to fill special teams roles due to the loss of special team players this offseason which would be my guess as to why they would possibly sign him, but it would be a move that we have to wait and see what would play out.
