Thursday for the Saints was a quiet day, not as much happened as they continue to get ready for their game Sunday vs Jets.
The Saints will have to maybe bring some guys off the practice squad this week more so than in previous weeks due to the minor Covid situation around the team.
Ty Montgomery on Covid List
The Saints placed their third player of the week on the Covid/reserve list along with Mark Ingram and Cam Jordan. Montgomery whose primary position is wide receiver and was looking to get some running back reps and some returns this week will be out for Sunday’s game vs the Jets. The Saints special teams will also take a blow as Montgomery is a ace on special teams and will need to be replaced.
With Montgomery out that leaves Alvin Kamara and Tony Jones as the only active running backs on the Saints. We could see the Saints elevate Josh Adams or Malcolm Perry for the first time this season, who are currently on the practice squad.
With Montgomery also out at receiver, the Saints will likely elevate another wide receiver along with Easop Winston. Malcolm Perry is capable of also playing receiver so we may see Perry take on Montgomery’s role as a RB/WR/Special teams contributor.
Malcolm Roach signed to practice squad
After waiving defensive tackle Malcolm Roach Tuesday, the Sain signed the defensive tackle to their practice squad. Roach, who just returned off of injured reserve, could play this Sunday with the defensive line possibly being short handed.
