Michael Thomas out for season, other Saints news

Another day full of Saints news as Falcons hate week has arrived. The first injury report of the week was released along with some other news regarding the Saints.

Michael Thomas out for season

It was reported this morning that star wide receiver Michael Thomas would miss the remainder of the season due to a setback in his rehab. It was an injury related to his surgery and it’s something that nobody could do anything about.

The setback was due to the type of surgery he had and now might need to have another procedure done. Sean Payton mentioned that Thomas had been working his tail off to get back on the field for the team.

Odell Beckham Jr. news

Odell is likely to be waived relatively soon, meaning he will go through waivers. The Saints and Raiders were reported by Jordan Shultz to be two teams interested in him if/when the time comes. However if a team is to claim Odell, they also get his contract and he’s due $8.05 million in 2021, in 2022 he’s dur $13.75 million in salary and $1 million in roster bonus with a $250K workout bonus, and 2023 contains a $13.75 million salary with a $1 million roster bonus and a $250K workout bonus.

The Saints currently have under $1 million in cap space and would need to do some restructuring to get Odell on the roster. Currently only nine teams have the cap space to get Odell off of waivers. If he clears waivers then teams can go about making offers and such.
