Day four of training camp has been by far the most active practice so far. The quarterbacks had their best day by far with Winston having the best day yet. All the new faces were at camp as well, Prince Amukamara, J.R. Sweezy, Devonta Freeman, and Tommylee Lewis. With that said, here’s notes, observations, and updates from today.
Updates:
- Lawrence Woods was waived
- Lorenzo Neal was waived
- Tight end Dylan Soehner was placed on injured reserve
- The Saints signed guard JR Sweezy
Notes:
- Jameis took first team reps
- Jameis had the best day of practice by a quarterback so far
- Every quarterback had a good practice and was slinging the ball
- Taysom had highs and lows from today
- Devonta Freeman had a good practice
- Ty Montgomery is primarily at WR, so Freeman is taking over his reps
- Marshon Lattimore had a great day of practice with consistent coverage
- Adam Trautman had his most active practice yet
- Jalen McCleskey had an active day as well, very productive camp so far
- No Lawrence Woods (waived), Grant Haley (personal reasons, or Dylan Soehner (injured reserve)
- Amukamara worked with the 2’s and 3’s with nice coverage and scooped an interception off Chris Hogan
- Callaway is a workhorse, thrown to often and everywhere
- Paulson Adebo is playing outside and inside corner
- Cooney was punting balls and hitting the ceiling of the Saints facility
Observations and Plays
- Prince Amukamara is wearing number 6
- Tommylee Lewis is wearing number 12
- KeiVarae Russell is wearing number 35
- Devonta Freeman is wearing number 34
- Stevie Scott is wearing number 39
- Jameis had several deep completions
- Jameis had a deep completion to Marquez Callaway who extended to catch it with his fingertips
- Two good completions to Alvin Kamara as well
- Taysom had an under thrown pass to Hogan deep, but then threw a strike down the middle to Lil’Jordan Humphrey in tight coverage by Brian Poole
