Brian Poole expected to sign with the Saints

After months of not knowing what the Saints would do at cornerback, the Saints are starting to make moves. Cornerback Brian Poole is expected to sign with the Saints Monday. Poole is entering his sixth season in the NFL after spending three of them with the Falcons and two with the Jets.

Brian Poole is one of the better slot corners in the league, which leaves the question of what about Chauncey Gardner Johnson? Are the Saints expecting to have Kris Richard develop Poole into an outside corner? Or could they possibly want to put CGJ at the outside corner? I have no idea how or what the Saints intend to use Poole for. The signing is likely for his depth and his ability to learn concepts.

Poole is a good corner and is definitely a player the Saints can use. He’s a flexible player and could probably learn each secondary position if he needed to. The Saints add depth and skill with the addition of Brian Poole,

Poole had 44 tackles, 7 pass break ups, and 2 interceptions in 2020.
