Taysom Hill will undergo surgery this offseason

It’s only right that the day after the Saints 2021 season ends, we get one final day of injury related news. Saints quarterback and gadget player Taysom Hill, who suffered a foot injury in Sunday’s win against the Falcons, will undergo surgery to repair his injury, said head coach Sean Payton.

The injury that Hill suffered is a Lisfranc related injury in his left foot. Typically the recovery time after surgery on a Lisfranc injury can range anywhere from three to five months. Hill will have two separate surgeries, the first one will be to repair the injury. The second one will be to remove the hardware in his foot.

Sean Payton didn’t have a timetable for when Taysom Hill will be fully 100%, but he did mention that the surgery should not impact his offseason in terms of being ready for the 2022 season.

Hill also dealt with Mallet finger and postponed surgery until after the season. After wearing a splint for the past five weeks on his middle finger of his throwing hand, I would assume Hill will undergo surgery in the offseason on his finger as well as his foot.

Another injury Hill dealt with all season was a partially torn plantar fascia which he suffered in the Tennessee game after coming back from a concussion. Taysom is a soldier and a tough dude.

Had the Rams won yesterday against the 49ers, Saints third string quarterback Trevor Siemian would be the starter for the playoff game with Ian Book being the backup.
