Saints workout 4 players, sign kicker to practice squad and more

Tuesday was filled with some moves that could lead to some adjustments in the roster and personnel later on this week. After a tough loss vs the Titans, Payton mentioned how certain areas of the team will be reevaluated and will move on from there.

The Saints worked out the following players on Tuesday.

WR Cody Core, WR Josh Malone, WR Jalen McCleskey, and QB Clayton Thorson. I don’t know much about any of these players aside from Jalen McCleskey, who spent a good portion of training camp with the Saints prior to being injured. He was having a good camp and could have potentially made the roster if injuries didn’t hold him back.

The kicking situation was kind of addressed. Kicker Brett Maher, who was with the Saints this offseason before getting injured, was signed to the practice squad. I take this as Brian Johnson is getting one more shot and this transaction is telling Johnson that if he doesn’t fix the missed extra points then he is out.

The final moves of the day was the waiving of defensive tackle Montravius Adams and the release of running back Lamar Miller off the practice squad.
