Deonte Harris facing possible suspension, other Saints news

After a disappointing loss yesterday to the Falcons, the Saints received some possible disappointing news themselves, which will drastically affect the team in a big way.

Wide receiver Deonte Harris was sentenced to one year of supervised probation after being arrested over the summer for a DUI. He pleaded not guilty and will not be convicted. Harris, whose case can now be reviewed by the NFL as his trial is over. He could possibly be serving a 2-3 game suspension if the NFL decides to do so. We’ll know more about if he’s suspended sometime in the near future.

Some more positive news for the Saints includes the activation of lime backer Chases Hansen off injured reserve, and is now on the active roster.

Hansen was placed on injured reserve in September with a groin injury and if he stays on the roster, then he will likely be a special teams contributor.

Odell Beckham was officially waived today, and now teams can put in claims for Odell and his $7.25M contract. By 3:00PM CT Tuesday we will know whether or not Odell will be a free agent or if he was claimed by a team.

The Saints along with a few other teams already mentioned that they will not be putting in a claim for Odell simply due to his contract. That doesn’t mean the Saints can’t/won’t get him, just means they won’t get him off waivers. There’s a rumor that the Saints are in of three teams that Odell wants to sign with, for more information on how the Saints can get him in a Saints uniform click here
