Saints injury report and other news from Thursday 11/4

Not as much news today in terms of Saints related reports. Other than the injury report there wasn’t a lot of news. Some league news to keep an eye on for potential signings for the Saints. The quarterback situation has yet to unfold but things should unravel Friday.

NFC Special teams player of the month

Saints punter Blake Gillikan was named as the NFC special teams player of the month of October. He had 17 punts with 10 of them being inside the 20 with three of them landing inside the three yard line in the same game vs Washington.

Quarterback update

Taysom Hill practiced today as a full participant after being limited yesterday. Nick Underhill reported that a lot of the guys in the team have faith in Trevor Siemian and with Taysom Hill coming back after three weeks of no practice, it certainly puts Siemian in a good position to start at least for this week.

No announcement has been made for who starts this Sunday, but it should be announced Friday or at the latest Sunday, but based on how 2019 and 2020 went we can expect the decision Friday.

Things to watch

Odell Beckham Jr. was told for the second day in a row to stay home and not participate in practice. The Browns have yet to release/waive the receiver and it appears all contact has been cut off between Odell and the coaching staff. He is still not expected to rejoin the team for the rest of the season. He can only be kept inactive against his will for four games, after that its cut him or play him.

Another thing to keep an eye on is that wide receiver cleared waivers and can sign with whatever team he wants.

Injury report

DNP: Ty Montgomery (hamstring), Carl Granderson (shoulder), Jameis Winston (knee) – waiting for him to be placed on injured reserve

LP: Payton Turner (calf), Terron Armstead (groin), Malcom Jenkins (knee)

FP: Taysom Hill (concussion), Dwayne Washington (neck)
