Saints Vs Bucs Recap and Insight

Trevor Siemian and the Saints rallied and beat the last year’s Super Bowl champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A game won by the Saints championship defense after having a few tiring drives. Guys stepped up big time this week and will need to continue to step up with the way things are looking.

Initial thoughts

  • This win is for Jameis Winston
  • Alvin Kamara is still getting the ball too much for meaningless plays
  • Chauncey had a rough game
  • Defensive line needs to get more pressure
  • The Saints special teams is an underrated part of the team

Game ball

  • Trevor Siemian, a forever Saints legend
  • P.J. Williams, playing at a good level of football this year and secured the win
  • Brian Johnson is an honorable mention. His missed PAT was also the holders fault for those who didn’t know
  • Sean Payton said both Mark Ingram and Jameis Winston got game balls

Areas that need to improve

  • Defensive line, the pass rush specifically as Brady had a lot of time to throw until the final minutes
  • Playing the deep ball, there was some miscommunication and some bad alignments by Lattimore vs Evans
  • Tackling, the tackling was pretty bad but it’s something the Saints can easily fix

Areas that improved

  • None of the receivers stepped up and had a big game, but when their number was called they came up clutch
  • Running game definitely improved from last week and the Washington game
  • Adam Trautman shined with his blocking

Player stocks going up

  • P.J. Williams
  • Tre’Quan Smith
  • Cam Jordan
  • Brain Johnson

Player stocks going down

  • Chauncey Gardner Johnson
  • Marshon Lattimore
