Another news filled day as the final touches of the Mark Ingram trade are released along with some trade rumors and reports that the Saints could possibly make a move on.

Mark Ingram trade details

The Saints traded a 2024 7th round pick to the Texans in exchange for Mark Ingram. To go with this Ingram signed a one year extension with the Saints up to $2.8 million, meaning the Saints will have him for the remainder of this season and next season barring a trade or retirement.

His cap hit/charge for the Saints in 2021 is 657K. In 2022, his salary is worth $1.5 million with a 300k roster bonus, $500k per gamers, and $500k from incentives.

The Texans with a classy move

Mark Ingram says the Texans let him know that New Orleans wanted to trade for him. They told him if it was any other team they wouldn’t listen, but knowing he started his career in NOLA, they gave him the option to consider the move and Ingram decided to go back home.

Possible jersey number change news

Mark Ingram was seen wearing number 14 at practice and will wear number 14 for the game Sunday vs Tampa Bay. Sounds like he and Chauncey tried to talk about a possible jersey switch but for now Ingram will wear 14.

He had other options but 14 seems to work as it’s the inverse of Alvin Kamara’s 41.

Ingram asked Lutz if he could wear number 3 and he didn’t care; he was just happy that Mark was back but the request was vetoed for some reason. Mark might ask to wear number 8 which is unofficially retired due to Archie Manning.

Mark didn’t wanna wear any numbers in the 30’s or 40’s so he was limited to only a few numbers. He’s still trying to finesse his way into 22 as Chauncey said he could have it but it sounds like there’s a rule that States that you can’t change numbers in the middle of the seasons on with a current play. So Ingram will probably get 22 back on the offseason. He could get 25 right now but we’ll see.

Trade Rumors

The Saints have been rumored to be in talks with teams about a wide receiver as the trade deadline approaches on November 2nd. It’s a position of need and definitely one to keep an eye on.

According to reporter Albert Breer the Saints have called and looked into Dolphins wide receiver Devante Parker, Cardinals wide receiver Andy Isabella, and Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton and tight end Evan Engram.

The Bears also have been reported to be open to hearing calls and offers for a trade involving Allen Robinson.

N’Keal Harry was mentioned as well and a report stated that the Patriots wouldn’t need much convincing to trade the receiver.

Desean Jackson and the Rams mutually agreed to part ways and listen to trades, which is another possible option for the Saints.

Brandin Cooks was reported to be off limits in terms of a trade, but after the Mark Ingram trade to New Orleans and his tweet, Cooks could possibly be on the trade block as well.

These are just some things to keep an eye on.
