Saints vs Washington Game Recap

The Saints beat the Washington Football Team 33-22 and go into the bye week 3-2. A game that definitely held up to the standards of Saints fans in terms of play calling and overall team play. Here’s a recap from Sunday’s game.

The good

  • Sean got more aggressive with the play calling and let Jameis air it out
  • Alvin Kamara got involved in both the run and pass game
  • The defense created turnovers
  • Blake Gillikin showing his punting skills
  • Marshon Lattimore and Paulson Adebo had solid games
  • Marquez Callaway had a better game but still not involved enough consistently

The bad

  • The kicker situation, hopefully Lutz is back after the bye
  • Defensive line still struggling putting pressure on the quarterback
  • Offensive line struggled in pass protection
  • Winston needs to protect the ball better, the fumble and needs to set his feet on his throws
  • Receivers still struggling with separation, Thomas and Smith should be back after the bye
  • Costly penalties

Game ball

Blake Gillikin, he had three out of his five punts go inside the five yard line. One of the punts set up a Hail Mary to Marquez Callaway before the half and the other one set up an interception and a Marquez Callaway touchdown. By far one of the best performances of the day by a Saints player.
