Updates

  • Kenny Stills was elevated to the 53 man roster for Sunday’s game
  • Jordan Mills was elevated to the 53 man roster from the practice squad for Sunday’s game
  • Will Clapp was activated from IR

Players to watch

  • LB2, whether it’s Baun or Werner they gotta stop Barkley and the RPO’s cause they struggled against Carolina
  • James Hurst, he’s in for Terron and the Giants defense isn’t bad. How does he perform overall
  • Alvin Kamara, does Sean Payton keep in involved in the game plan like last week

Things to keep an eye on

  • Can the Saints put constant pressure on Jones and not let him scramble
  • How does LB2 perform against a running back like Barkley
  • How involved does Marquez Callaway get in the offense
  • Does Sean Payton heavily favor the run in his offense again
  • Winston’s decision making
  • With the Giants missing Slayton and Shepard do the Saints blitz more often
  • What coverage does the defense run with the Giants being short handed, I would expect man coverage
  • Can any of the receivers have a big game, be there for Winston consistently

Keys to the game

  1. Force turnovers, the Saints are tied for first in the league for the most interceptions and are tied for second for the most takeaways this season. Hopefully we continue to see this dominant defense create more turnovers Sunday against the Giants. Daniel Jones has yet to throw an interception and has one fumble. They’ve only given the ball away on turnovers twice this year and have done a good job at protecting the ball. If the Saints can force turnovers while protecting the ball offensively and get Jones to get back to his old habits the Saints will be in good position to win the game.
  2. Win in the trenches, this game will be won by the defensive line/front seven. Jones has been sacked 8 times, four of which came from another elite defense in Washington. The Saints front seven is more dominant in the run game than Washington and can create pressure almost consistently. When the Saints pressure Jones the have to keep him contained, he’s been using his legs a lot more and has two rushing touchdowns with one being called back. The Giants  run a quick RPO scheme well, so the Saints front seven has to get to Jones fast, keep him contained and shut down Barkley. With Shepard and Slayton out the Giants will rely on these RPO’s a lot so it’s important to shut it down immediately.
  3. Control the clock, the Giants defense is no joke but if the Saints defense can create turnovers and while the offense controls the clock the Giants defense will be gassed. Run the ball with not just Kamara but Tony Jones, Taysom Hill, and possibly Deonte on a sweep. Keep that Giants defense tired and keep the Saints defense rested on the sideline all while putting up points.
