Saints Vs Patriots Game Recap

After Sunday’s win against the Patriots there was a lot to be impressed and hopeful about; and not so much about a lot of things. Here’s my game recap:

The Good

  • The defense still looks elite and top tier
    • Demario is playing like the best linebacker in the league
    • Marshon had an outstanding day, allowed 4 catches on 10 targets for 42 yards and had an INT
    • Chauncey is a stud, he didn’t get a lot of credit for forcing play backwards behind the line
    • Cam Jordan had 8 pressures and quietly had a solid game
    • Paulson Adebo is physical and aggressive when it comes to tackling, which is what you want in a corner
    • Marcus Williams neees to be paid, he’s playing crazy good
    • Pressure was on Jones all day
  • Alvin Kamara is just doing Alvin Kamara like things
  • The offense was able to move the ball and get some momentum at the end of the game
  • Taysom Hill got involved a little more than the previous two weeks
  • Marquez Callaway got more involved, but needs more consistency in being available
  • Offensive line played well considering Terron and McCoy were out, props to Hurst and Throckmorton
  • Special teams is still being a critical part to the team’s success

The Bad

  • The kicker situation, two missed kicks
  • The offense needs to get into a better rhythm consistently
  • Callaway did step up but the receivers still need to be more available for Jameis
  • Jameis is still having trouble with just taking a sack/trying to extend a play that has no right being extended
  • Adam Trautman is playing terrible and needs to improve
  • Ryan Ramczyk needs to play more consistently, he gave up some blocks
  • Receivers need more separation, this will probably be an issue until Michael Thomas comes back

Game Ball

Marshon Lattimore gets the game ball, a week after having surgery on his thumb and missing week two he balled out. He was targeted 10 times, allowed 4 receptions for 42 yards with an interception and pass break up, all with a cast in his hand. He allowed a passer rating of 19.0 and totaled 10 tackles.

Stats

  • Passing Leader
    • Jameis Winston: 13/21, 128 yards, 2 touchdowns
  • Rushing Leader
    • Alvin Kamara: 24 carries, 89 yards; 3 receptions, 29 yards, and a touchdown
  • Receiving Leader
    • Marquez Callaway: 4 receptions, 41 yards, and a touchdown
  • Defensive Leaders
    • Marshon Lattimore: 10 tackles, 1 pbu, 1 int
    • Demario Davis: 8 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 2 pbu’s
