Marshon Lattimore’s Eventful Sunday

Sunday was quite the day for Marshon Lattimore whose day was filled with tons of events. He went from not knowing if he would play Sunday morning to finishing the day signing an extension with the Saints. It was truly just an overall big day for Lattimore.

Saturday it was reported that Marshon Lattimore would be questionable with a knee injury and was truly a gametime decision. Nobody knew if he would play Sunday and had to be evaluated during warm ups with a bandage on his knee for a decision to be made. Once the decision was made he was good to go.

Going against Davante Adams who is one of the best receivers in the league was held to only 5 catches for 56 yards and he wasn’t even on Adams the whole game. Lattimore totaled 3 tackles and a pass deflection.

After the game the news that Lattimore agreed to a five year extension with the Saints broke out. The deal is worth $97.6 million with $68.3 million guaranteed and has the possibility of being worth up to $100 million.

Not all good news for Lattimore was reported Sunday though. Lattimore during halftime of the Saints and Packers game was checked out  by trainers and came out in the third quarter around five minutes in with a cast around his right hand/thumb.

Lattimore is set to have surgery on the thumb after believing to have a torn UCL in his thumb which is similar to the injury Drew Brees had in 2019 during the week two Rams game.

Lattimore will likely have an internal brace or splint placed in his thumb during surgery. He could miss 1-2 games or he could play with a cast in his right hand. The overall process should take 4-6 weeks. For now Lattimore is a week to week guy and a gametime decision, but let’s just enjoy the fact that they finally got a deal done.

As of Monday Lattimore is expected to miss a couple weeks but it’s going to be nothing major in terms of injury wise.
