Saints 3 Keys to the Game

The Saints face the NFC’s number one seed from last season today and last year’s MVP Aaron Rodgers. This will be a game that the Saints will have to win off their scheme simply because of injuries their skill level isn’t near the same skill level as the Packers. Here are my 3 keys to the game in order for the Saints to get a victory.

  1. Keep Aaron Rodgers off the field. The Saints offensively need to take their time on their drives and keep Rodgers off the field as much as possible. Defensively the Saints have to get Rodgers off the field on third downs unlike last year’s game where our defense could not get Rodgers off the field without points.
  2. The front seven has to bring the heat. The Saints already are limited at corner and now with Lattimore possibly being out the front seven is critical to winning the game. Guys like Cam Jordan and Marcus Davenport have to create pressure and create it fast and force Rodgers to throw passes he’ll regret throwing. David and the linebackers have to stop the run and get to Aaron Rodgers on blitzes to force a mistake.
  3. Execute offensively when the defense does their job. If the defense creates a turnover or a punt the Saints have to take advantage of that opportunity and score some sort of points. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers don’t make a lot of mistakes but when they do the Saints have to execute.
