Training camp day 2 notes and observations

Day two of training camp is in the books and the competition continues to be top notch. Players are stepping up like Marquez Callaway as a leader. Alvin Kamara continues to shine and players who just arrived are making a splash on the team.

Today was the first practice open to the media with live updates. Here’s some of the notes and plays from today’s camp.

Notes

-Taysom took reps with the first team 

-Quarterback rotation will flip tomorrow with Jameis taking reps with the first team

-P.J. Williams and Derick Kelly returned from NFI

-Marquez Callaway is stepping up as a leader

-Chris Hogan was the star of practice

-Pete Werner got reps in with the first team defense 

-Chase Hansen and Zack Baun were the second team LB’s

-Tanoh Kpassagnon got reps opposite of Davenport with first team defense 

-Payton Turner got reps at edge for both first and second team

-Josiah Bronson got reps at interior defensive line with Shy Tuttle

-Nolan Cooney was doing the punting 

-Alvin Kamara looks electric

-Deonte Harris, Callaway, Easop Winston, and Jalen McCleskey returned punts

-The defense ran nickel, CGJ took first team reps and Poole took second team reps

-Jalen Dalton had a good solid day

-No Dylan Soehner or Grant Haley 

Observations 

-Carl Granderson had two sacks, one on Trevor Siemian and one on Winston

-Adam Trautman made a good catch with a lot of effort during team drills

-Winston had three straight completions to running backs

-Marcus Davenport had a sack but due to no contact Hill got it off

-Chris Hogan Had a leaping catch in a corner route

-Noah Spence sacked Winston after beating Hurst off the edge

-Marcus Williams laid a hit on Alvin Kamara, Kamara got up and dapped him up
